Peter M. Bairey
Peter was born on Friday, July 16, 1965. The top news story of the month was the movement of 50,000 more troops to Vietnam. Also that year, rebellion flared in the Dominican Republic, and Indonesia attacked Malaysia. At the Oscars, the Best Movie was The Sound of Music, Best Actor was Lee Marvin, and Best Actress was Julie Christie. Lyndon B. Johnson was President and Hubert H. Humphrey was VP. A house cost $20,000, the average yearly wage was $6,957, and in the World Series that year, Los Angeles beat Minnesota.
Peter was born in Port Angeles, Washington, the youngest of five children, his siblings being Judy, Jim, Patrick, and Christopher. His oldest sibling, Judy, was already 15 years old, and Chris, the brother closest to him in age, was 7. Needless to say, he was the baby of the family, but he didn't necessarily get spoiled. His parents, Jim and Bette, were small business owners at the time. As a youngster, Peter was fond of vampires and Spiderman, and could usually recite the TV Guide to anyone who asked.
When he was about 12, Peter moved with his Mom to Salem, Oregon. Strangely enough, he often went to visit his grandmother in a Salem nursing home, and met Stephanie's great-grandmother, who lived right across the hallway. During and after High School, he got jobs as a lifeguard and as a machinist, and bought his first motorcycle, a Yamaha 400 special, which he rode at breakneck speeds with his buddies. He attended a few terms of college, but mostly just worked. Soon he got into house painting, for which he turned out to have quite a talent.
Up to recently, Peter was the Maintenence Director at Guardian Management. In his spare time, he snowboarded at Mt. Hood or Mt. Bachelor, plays golf, and climbs the beautiful peaks of the Cascade Range, and has summited Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, all three Sisters, Three-Fingered Jack, Broken Top, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Lassen, and others.
In May 2003, Peter and Steph moved to the big island of Hawaii, and are completely enjoying their new home in paradise.
